I use this with nikon d3000 in quick release mode and it works in virtually all direction such as sides and back , did not need to train as inside pamphlet suggested, range is pretty excellent too. I am completely satisfied.

With your nikon there should be a timer setting that you can page through until a remote shows up (with or without a timer too) that enables this. I can use it in front, back and on the sides of the camera. We even played with active it around a further room to this cam and it worked fantastic. Feels solid and very well engineered. Will be buying more for my family (my dad has a D80.)
Works fine

At this price, I bought a spare figuring I'll probably loose it. It looked to do the same job as the Nikon ML-L3, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've had no harms. No set up required, just remove the array tab, set your camera's release mode, and you're ready to go (at least for my model, the D5000). No harms with the autofocus either, and it works from a excellent distance as well as pointing it at an angle out of the camera's view for shots where I just don't want to go the camera. It doesn't come with a pouch like the ML-L3, but it costs less, and otherwise seems to work fine.
It works with my Nikon D50

It works well with my camera but don't bother reading the instructions that come with this manufactured goods. I had better luck reading my camera's manual.
Info sheet in box vs actuality

I ordered this and received it before my camera came so I didn't open it until today. I opened it and was very upset thought that it wouldn't work with my Nikon D5000 since my camera is not mentioned in the compatibility list. But I set the camera up and pointed it at a sleeping cat. At first nothing happened, but that was because I hadn't removed the small plastic tab inside that keeps the array from making friend. I removed it and tried again. The close sounds and flash didn't startle the cat as I had hoped, but it did take a fine photo from across the room.
I am very satisfied with the price, the shipping time, and the thinness of this manufactured goods.

Remember, just because the paper inside doesn't have yours listed, don't despair, just remember to remove the small plastic array cover and also to set your camera to accept remote input.
